Biography: Zhengying Lou is a Postdoctoral Associate at the NYU Abu Dhabi Wireless Center. She received her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia. She also holds a B.S. degree in Communication Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). Her research interests include non-terrestrial networks, stochastic geometry, and multi-band wireless communication systems for 5G/6G and beyond.
Abstract: This seminar presents research on (i) performance analysis for High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS)-assisted wireless communication networks and (ii) band selection schemes for multi-band cellular networks based on 5G New Radio (NR). The first part presents a comprehensive investigation of the architecture and performance of HAPS-assisted wireless communication networks from multiple perspectives. In addition, we outline a stochastic geometry-based analytical framework to evaluate the performance of space-air-ground-sea integrated networks (SAGSIN), enabling seamless and reliable communication across large maritime regions. The second part examines our current research on band selection schemes for multi-band wireless networks under the 3GPP 5G NR framework, covering both the idle and connected states. In the idle state, the user selects suitable bands based on broadcast signal measurements, while in the connected state, the network makes band selection decisions based on user measurement reports combined with network-side information. This talk will focus on the band selection process in the idle state.
